Hurricane (hur-uh-kun)

is located in Hurricane Valley, 15 miles northeast of St. George, and consists of towns Hurricane, La Verkin, Toquerville, and Apple Valley. Near the south-east edge of Hurricane is a private landing strip for those that prefer alternative transportation to get to work! Hurricane is also home to the Washington County Fair Grounds and the county’s State DMV Offices.

Hurricane Valley is a gateway to a multitude of national parks and monuments including Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, the Grand Canyon, and Cedar Breaks National Monument. Sand Hallow State Park is also located in Hurricane Valley to enjoy waterskiing, camping, fishing, and exploring sand dunes on an ATV. Adjacent to Sand Hollow, across SR-9, is Quail Creek Reservoir (AKA “Quail Lake”) for those that enjoy watersports and fishing.

There are also great photo opportunities throughout the Confluence Park conveniently located North of Main St. in Hurricane where the road ends. The dirt trail of the park is accessible to hikers, bikers, and horse riders, which leads down to the Virgin River.

Utah’s Dixie is neighbor to Hurricane Valley. Utah’s Dixie is made up of St. George, Washington County’s largest city, and a host of smaller communities to include Santa Clara, Ivins, and Washington. Washington County is home to Dixie State University, the Tuacahn Amphitheatre, premier golf courses, incredible hiking trails, and beautiful parks to name a few attractions.
